Diary – Easter Monday

Monday 5th April 2021

Wow 7.20am, have I actually slept for this long? I know I woke at least once during the night…No I think it could have been twice. I could hear the wind howling on one occasion and the rain battering the window on the other.

I was tired when I went to bed.

Tired was an understatement…Shattered!

Just after 6pm last night hubby suggested a walk, I am not used to walking in an evening as I do like to chill as my energy level is low.

A new place of interest was mentioned, which tempted me as it involved my camera. So in the car we go for a drive, 15 – 20 minutes and we have arrived on the outskirts of Knot End. You can get the ferry across to Knot End from Fleetwood which would have been so much quicker, but the ferry wasn’t running.

So close but yet so far away when water between. I was stood at the ferry port at Knot End taking this photo, as a boat sailed down the estuary between Fleetwood and Knot End

I didn’t have a clue where we was going. Then I saw a large lake, hubby pulled in to a small car park and that’s where a new walk began.

Every New Place is a New Venture

We could hear new birds, ones I had never heard before and some I couldn’t even spot…but we could hear them! The fields beyond had, Geese, Ducks, Oyster catchers…woo what was that running along the banking…woo …woo not seen one of those before, I stop breathing trying to capture a photo but he / she is moving far to fast. Click, click, click goes the camera. Out of about 8-10 clicks I managed to get a photo, not brilliant, but I captured the bird…It is a Lapwing, well I think it is

He was a hard one to capture…he moved so fast

I love going to new places, always something new to see. I did a collage of some photos below , as I did get a little carried away with my camera…so did hubby! Yes I had to share my camera!

I felt sorry for Mr Goose, he had a ring around his neck which looked quite tight, most probably isn’t but it just looked that way. I know they are used to track the birds, you can enter the details of the birds ring on a website to help them track their whereabouts and if they are still alive.

Ringed Goose

It was a very tranquil walk, fishermen fishing by the lake, birds singing…all different bird song and sounds, some we had not heard before. I was shocked to find Oyster Catchers in the field, I always thought of Oyster Catchers by the sea.

This Oyster Catcher had been probing about in mud with his long orange bill.
We spot the very proud colourful pheasant strutting by.
Lots of little Blue Tits and Great Tits eating the catkins off the trees

There where rabbits jumping and hopping about in the fields…all the different birds flying and feeding in nearby field, just so much to watch. We made a move and left the lakes and fields to drive a little further down the road to Knot End. It was freezing by this point so we didn’t hang around for long.

Spotted a different bird, was it a goose or was it a duck?

Shelduck…half way between a duck and a goose

Lovely walk but shattered when I got home, not used to walking so far after tea.

I’m quite tired this morning so I hope my brain goes into gear for my zoom with the 4 Amigos

Today brings another video recording with the 4 Amigos, we do have fun making these short videos, they may bring memories of the past, but there are always plenty of laughter. This weeks topic is post diagnosis support. Mmmm after diagnosis support rather sparse! Well it was for us four.

I am so tired today …Energy level on Low!

I think there is an Angel watching over me!
