A visit to Brockholes March 7th

Brockhole house was built at the end of the 19th century, as a holiday home for a wealthy silk merchant William Gaddum and his wife Edith (née) Potter, cousin to Beatrix Potter.

There are some stunning gardens to walk around.

Spectacular views of Windermere and Langdale Pikes, bird hides, activities and a fabulous coffee shop with home made cakes.

We spent hours wandering around the grounds.

The sun shone covering the colourful flowerbeds exaggerating the colours of the blooms, making their colours pop like colourful candy in a sweet shop

Making our way through the gardens towards the bird hides, I was a little disappointed when we turned the corner and the bird hide was taken.

Inside the hide where lots of volunteers cleaning and sweeping debris, most probably left by nesting rodents.

This little guy was helping by sending us a warning!

After a couple of hours exploring and enjoying grounds, we make our way towards the cafe for much needed refreshments.

Very nice refreshments they were too!

Refuelled we head back towards the lodge for a rest before we head off for a different adventure.

I can’t remember the next place we visited, but I know we was very disappointed as we had paid £6.00 for parking and everything was close!

Our last full day was nearly over, it’s certainly been a wonderful adventure. We have loved visiting old and new places, creating more wonderful memories.

My last mornings walk through the lodges was Friday the 8th March 2024

An early morning Robin appeared to serenade my morning walk, which felt so wonderful and calming.

I stand alone at the water’s edge reflecting on our last few days, definitely time for me to leave, as I take one last look at the lake, soaking up the calmness of my surroundings.

Until next time!
